Our Story

How We Got Started

In late 2017 we decide it was time to pour our love of golf, movement and mobility into something that could help those that play the game.

Our Founders

Built To Perform was founded in the Southwest of the  UK by Adam Shackell and Sam Pullen. The duo worked together for the past 5 years before starting BTP.

Our Philosophy

We believe in building all of our athletes from the ground up. This way, players will feel improved levels of strength and stability in every part of their swing.

A Thankyou

Who We Are

Adam Shackell

Adam Shackell

Head of Strength & Conditioning


Adam has been in the fitness industry since 2005, starting out as a personal trainer at a local country club before opening CrossFit Bath in 2009, building it into one of the most successful affiliates in the country.

Adam has played golf since the age of 12 and is a member of Cumberwell Park Golf Club. With his love for golf and experience in movement and mobility, Adam opened local workshops for golfers looking to make improvements off the course.

He has worked with a range of club-level, mid-handicappers and European tour players. Helping them to understand their bodies and move better. Building on this experience with a range of abilities, Adam understands the demands of the sport and what is required from the body to swing a club repeatedly in excess of 100mph.

Sam Pullen

Sam Pullen

Head of Mobility


Sam started his fitness career in 2012 with Crossfit Bath and quickly became the coach to speak to about mobility. He has since moved into a leading role at BTP, educating members in specific areas of weightlifting, gymnastics and movement to improve their golf swing. 

Following his passion for more mobile bodies, Sam recently studied under the tutelage of Dr. Andreo Spina, the world renowned musculoskeletal expert and BTP members are benefiting from his learnings.

Sam has also started working with Bath Rugby to help support the players with ongoing mobility sessions, educating them on the importance of body control, increasing joint health and physical longevity; benefitting players and club both on and off the pitch.
